Common Diet Fad Busted!




Let me first say that this picture is really making me crave some fresh Schiachatta (some italian pressed bread) and fresh olive oil.  Have you noticed that America has tried to embrace the health food in grocery stores by creating foods lower in fat so they can label them FAT FREE?  This is not a great option when trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.  Fat is an important ingredient that has many benefits for your body!  It helps regulate body temperature, helps cushion protective organs, and are crucial to the digestion of vitamins A,D,E, and K.  So let me give you an example, you purchase a fat free salad dressing.  They are taking out what you need to absorb the vitamins in the dressing and loading it with more sugar that has empty calories.  Let me add by saying that Winter time can make you deficient in Vitamin D so take your vitamins!

So why hate fat and start loving it!  I love guacamole and with some fresh pomegranate seeds mixed in you have one of my favorite dishes.  Organic Peanut butter is also a great option!  The monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats can help lower bad cholesterol.  They help protect your cells!  So, lets rejoice and put peanut butter on our toast, snack on out almonds, and use olive oil to sauté vegetables.
